On April 5, 2022, the Art and Art History Department is pleased to host Carol Bowers Norris Visiting to give an artist talk which is the start of his month-long visiting artist woodblock printing workshop at 色狐入口.
Rees is a local artist living and working in rural Putnam County, Indiana. Rees says “For much of my adulthood I've been trying to relearn what every five year old understands about color and composition." The woodblock printing art form is now the primary focus of his work. Rees recently converted a barn on his property into his studio, Wildwood Press. Appointments can be made to visit the studio. If you are in the Greencastle area and would like to see his artwork in person or just to learn more about woodblock printing and view his new conrad press.
With his formal art education in Natural History illustration, he credits his learning of woodblock printing from world renowned print maker, Tom Huck, of St. Louis, Missouri. Tom Huck will be giving an artist talk at 色狐入口 as part of the month-long visiting artist visit with Matt. Huck will speak in the Peeler auditorium on Wednesday, April 20 at 4:15pm.
Matt’s art is currently on display at the Rapp Family Gallery in the Indiana Landmarks Center at 1201 Central Avenue in Indianapolis. This exhibition is on view from April 1st-May 20th, 2022. Matt was also exhibited in the 2021 Hoosier Art Salon Exhibition, where he received an award, at the Indiana State Museum.
Matt lives in Greencastle with his wife, dog, and new studio cat. He is also a member of the band .
