Bio:

David Gellman's areas of research include: Early America (Colonial America to 19th Century); slavery and abolition; American Revolution; New York history (city and state); John Jay, founding father of America, first chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, diplomat, co-author of the Federalist papers and governor of New York. Gellman is writing a multi-generational family history of John Jay to be published as a book. John Jay was founding president of one of the first abolitionist organizations, and he and his family were closely involved in the issues of slavery and abolition across generations.

Gellman also is author of Emancipating New York, which covers slavery and abolition in New York. He is co-author of a textbook, American Odysseys, about Colonial America. In addition, Gellman wrote two published essays about famous rock musician Bruce Springsteen.
